A trial is only ever created at first checkout. If someone already has a subscription and upgrades in-app, no trial is applied.
During the trial the plan works in full and Plan & billing shows a "Trial: N days left" badge. The Change Plan screen shows the shorter "Trial: Nd left".
myScribe does not send a "your trial is ending" email. Stripe fires the 3-days-out event and the app only writes a log line. Whatever reminder the customer gets comes from Stripe itself, not from myScribe.
A card is collected at checkout, so the trial converts to a paid subscription automatically unless cancelled.
