Memory updates
About once a week, your assistant reviews your recordings and chats to remember your projects, people and preferences. You can see and delete what it keeps anytime in Settings → Experimental Features → What the assistant remembers. Your first update can take up to a week.
Memory updates are offered on selected accounts. They use Google Gemini to pick out lasting facts from your own recording titles and summaries and relevant account context. Facts you tell the assistant take precedence over facts it inferred from meetings. Inferred facts that are not seen again for 90 days are retired rather than erased.
- Open Profile → AI sharing → Review AI sharing. Select Overnight Memory with Google Gemini and its separate Allow background processing for this service checkbox, then Allow AI sharing. Typed assistance and a paid plan alone do not grant this permission.
- Open What the assistant remembers to see what is saved, where each fact came from, when it was last updated, and roughly when the next update is due.
- Choose Delete on any memory and confirm. It is removed and is not learned again from the same source. The private weekly What I learned note stays here; it is not automatically posted to a team chat or emailed.
If memory updates aren't running for your account, you can still see and delete what's saved. Withdrawing background permission stops further updates but does not erase saved facts. Old queued work cannot resume under a later Allow. Profile → Delete account starts the separate account-deletion process.
